Ka Nuʻukia

ʻO ka mālama a hoʻōla ʻana i ka ʻike kuʻuna, ʻo ia hoʻi nā hula, ka lawena Hawaiʻi, a me nā mele e pili pū ana i ka hula ma o ka ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi i mea e ulu ai ka mauli ola Hawaiʻi i loko o nā mamo.

Our goal is the preservation and perpetuation of the traditional practices of our ancestors, the hula, our Hawaiian behavior/stature and the songs associated with the hula, by teaching it through the medium of our ancestral language, the Hawaiian language, as a means of fostering our mauli, our Hawaiian identity/spirit.

Papa Liko

ʻO ka Papa Liko ka pae hoʻomaka no nā kamaliʻi, mai ka Pūnana Leo a hiki i ka pae papa 2 paha. Hui ka Papa Liko ma nā Poʻahā, mai ka hola 2:40-3:30pm. Ma kēia pae e hoʻokahua ʻia ai ka ʻike hula. (Papa Liko is for our beginners and kamaliʻi who meet on Thurs. from 2:40-3:30pm. We teach foundational hula skills at this level.)

Papa Maile

ʻO ka Papa Maile ka pae hoʻoikaika no nā kamaliʻi, ma ka papa 2 a 3 paha a hiki i ka pae papa 5. Hui ka Papa Liko ma nā Poʻalua, mai ka hola 3-4pm. Ma kēia pae e hoʻomau ai nā ʻōlapa e hoʻoikaika ma luna o ke kahua hula. (Papa Maile is for our continuing kamaliʻi grades 2/3-4/5 who meet on Tues. from 3-4pm. We build upon their foundational hula skills at this level.)

Papa Koa

ʻO ka Papa Koa ka papa no nā kāne ʻōpio, mai ka pae papa 5/6 a hiki i ka papa 9/10 paha. Hui ka Papa Koa ma nā Poʻahā, mai ka hola 3:30-4:30pm. Ma kēia pae e hoʻoulu ʻia ai ka ʻike hula a me ke ʻano alakaʻi o nā kāne ʻōpio o ka hālau. (Papa Koa is for our young men, grades 5/6 until 9/10 who meet on Thurs. from 3:30-4:30pm. We continue to grow our young men in hula and foster leadership at this level.)

Papa Lehua

ʻO ka Papa Lehua ka papa no nā wahine ʻōpio, mai ka pae papa 5/6 a hiki i ka papa 9/10 paha. Hui ka Papa Lehua ma nā Poʻahā, mai ka hola 4:30-5:30pm. Ma kēia pae e hoʻoulu ʻia ai ka ʻike hula a me ke ʻano alakaʻi o nā wahine ʻōpio o ka hālau. (Papa Lehua is for our young women, grades 5/6 until 9/10 who meet on Thurs. from 4:30-5:30pm. We continue to grow our young women in hula and foster leadership at this level.)

Papa Lama

ʻO ka Papa Lama ka papa no nā ʻōpio a me nā mākua a ʻo ia hoʻokahi ka papa e mālama ʻia nei ma Haleʻōlelo. Hui ka Papa Lama ma nā Poʻakolu, mai ka hola 4:30-5:30pm. (Papa Lama is for our mature teens and parents. It is the only class that meets at Haleʻōlelo on Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm.)
